We provide a toolkit for congregational partners who wished to observe Orphan Sunday and Stand Sunday in 10th-11th November, 2024. This special date of observation reminds us of the importance of caring for the vast numbers of children who have lost their connection to family through crisis. Because we know the best way to help these children is to ensure they have a loving, strong family, we invite you to join Strong Family for Every Child during November of 2024 to transform the conversation about serving children locally and across the globe.
In 2024, Orphan Sunday becomes recognized as Strong Family Sunday. Help us celebrate strong family in your community.
Do something with your family to celebrate your strength!
Play games together, have a special dinner, exchange letters and cards and pictures that express your family's values, pick a family project that you can accomplish in a single day, go somewhere together to make a special memory, do something as a family to strengthen other families.
Do something as an individual or as a family to strengthen vulnerable families in your community or across the globe.
Share a meal with a foster family, adoptive family, single parent family, or other vulnerable family in your community, provide respite care for a young parent or guardian of a disabled child, host a drive for school supplies, lunches, admission to an after school activity or program or an emergency clothes closet at your local public school, support shelters that keep displaced families together and off the streets, provide layette kits, fundraise to provide maternal health at a local free clinic or in the global south, or for family strengthening programs in the extremely impoverished communities around the world.
